I got a tip from Anders that few Japanese Buntings are showing up nicely in Yangshan. With my mind full of greedy thoughts i decided do a detour before heading to Yangkou on Saturday of 10th May. Weather forecast already said it would not be a pleasant day. Visibility was not so great on the 30km stretch of Donghai bridge.  Asian Stubtails were still present. No signs of the Jap. Bunting, to test my patience and adding fuel to the growing frustration  an Acrocephalus warbler and a dull brown Phylloscopus warbler didn’t give enough views and i could not track them anymore. The only consolation was a “Siberian Rubythroat” which also disappeared after noticing my presence. The flowering trees near the temple has attracted a huge no of “Japanese White-eyes”, about 25+ birds in two flocks were busy collecting the nectar.

Back at Nanhui, Pechora Pipit have gathered in good no’s. About 6 birds were seen in a stretch of 100m. A “Citrine Wagtail” was a nice addition to this year’s spring list. Car park was quiet with no birds and photographers in the vicinity except one weird looking grass mound near the bushes.

With dipping my target bird and getting caught in the heavy traffic of the Outer middle ring road, i reached Yangkou around 6 and the day was certainly got better. Stay tuned for the Yangkou update.
